Hello and welcome to our Ardnageena website.
This site is all about our life on the beautiful Sheep's Head Peninsula in SW Cork.
View of Dunmanus Bay from our garden.
We grow (and will sometimes sell) flowering shrubs and hardy (mostly herbacious) perennials in various colours, shapes and sizes, especially suitable for coastal West Cork gardens. Our plants are all grown from seed or cuttings, so they are usually small to begin with, but will grow big with time and patience.
We have good and hardy ground covering plants, which look great, grow fast (some would say *invasive*) and will keep most of your weeds down.
We grow a selection of "weeds". Well... they are not weeds, actually. They are just considered weeds locally, because they do so well and grow in abundance here. There are Fuchsias and Crocosmias (formerly known as Montbretia) in various colours. The Fuchsias are particularly good for hedging. We have them in at least three different colours.
All our flowering shrubs are grown from cuttings. Think, for example: Weigela, Hebe, Tree-Lupin, Hydrangea, etc. For a full selection, please visit us. There's a very nice variety.
We might have the occasional conservatory plant as well. I have a soft spot for Begonias and find it impossible to throw away the cuttings when I trim them. But there's not only Begonias. Do tell me if you are looking for conservatory plants, because I tend to forget we have them.
All our plants are grown and kept in our wet and windy (although often also sunshiny) weather, so they are used to being beaten around by salty gusts. Survival, although never guaranteed, is therefore highly likely.
If you would like to keep in touch with us, the best way is to give us a *like* on FaceBook.
